About the event

Step into the past with a one-day, two-city walking tour that uncovers the grit of the American Revolution and the gold of pirate lore. From the battle-scarred beaches of West Haven to the haunted shores of Milford, come discover the secrets buried in our own backyard!

The Expedition Plan

  • Part I: The Redcoat Invasion (Savin Rock, West Haven) Stand where the British landed in 1779. We’ll trace the steps of General Garth’s troops, visit the legendary lookout of Thomas Painter, and share the gripping story of Adjutant Campbell—the enemy officer who became a local hero.

  • Part II: The Cursed Isle (Charles Island, Milford) Cross the sandbar (if the tide permits!) to an island steeped in mystery. Hear the "Thrice-Cursed" legend of the Paugussett tribe and walk the grounds where Captain Kidd allegedly buried his final, haunted treasure.
