About the event
The Experience
We kick off in the upper prison yard, tracing the footprints of Tories, rogues, and revolutionaries. You’ll hear real stories that didn't make the history class curriculum like daring prison breaks engineered with smuggled rope, subterranean mutinies in the pitch black, and the peculiar daily reality of early America’s first state penitentiary.
After unearthing the yard's secrets, we will take the plunge and descend down into the cool, abandoned copper mine beneath the prison ruins to where the worst of the worst were housed. To kick off Spooky Season, the stone tunnels will be illuminated by dozens upon dozens of glowing artistic jack-o'-lanterns, offering a eerie, atmospheric trek through history.
